Chilean striker Eduardo Vargas made a name for himself in the Copa America Centenario this past summer after netting four goals against Mexico in their catastrophic loss 7-0 to Chile in the Quarter-Finals of the tournament. Overall, Vargas had a great performance throughout the entire tournament which lead many people to believe that he would play in a European or South American powerhouse the following season. After many speculations, Vargas decided to stay at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim until at least the January transfer window of 2017. 

The reigning and defending champions of Mexico, Tigres, have been known recently to splash big cash on star players. One big example is the French sensation Andre-Pierre Gignac’s move to Tigres in June of 2015 for $18 Million followed by Jurgen Damm, Javier Aquino, Lucas Zelarayan, Ismael Sosa, Andy Delort and recently Peruvian right-back Luis Advincula was added to the already stacked roster. But Tigres isn’t satisfied yet. Eduardo Vargas looks to be Tigres’ newest addition. The Chilean is to report to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon on Thursday morning to complete his medical exams. 

Eduardo Vargas has won two Copa America tournaments with Chile (2015, 2016 Centenario). Vargas’ last goal in an offical club competition was on the 13th of September 2016 in Hoffenheim’s 3-1 loss to Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.-Alex Perez
