What does it mean to CHERISH?

by Kasi Kay

Hey there, Kasi Kay Rias here. It’s August 26th (day after my birthday). It’s a beautiful day. Summer is almost over so make sure you’re getting out there and enjoying it because….winter is coming. It’s amazing how fast time flies. I remember starting school in May thinking this is going to be a long process. Now here I am almost 4 months later with 5 months to go. It is so hard to live in the moment when we are constantly running. Going to work, going to school, making sure the kids are taken care of, we always seem to forget to actually live. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day who made a really good point about social media and the media itself. We don’t even realize that 95% of the time the information we’re getting is from the media. I was born in a ’87 and looking back on my childhood, even without the technology life was great. Some children nowadays are being raised by a screen.
Gone are the days where children would be outside for hours. I want to challenge some of you to turn that cellphone off, turn that tablet and if it’s not a movie or tv show you’re enjoying with your friends or family, turn off the tv. My favorite past time that I recently got into that was so much fun is games. Any kind of game really; board games, card games or even Jenga. Catchphrase is one of my current favorites. If you haven’t tried it go pick it up now, make some calls to your favorite people and try it out. We get so caught up in life that we actually forget to live. Life is too short to not create memories with the people you love. Pictures and videos will never compare to the thoughts and memories and the happiness you feel when you think about that one time Alex almost broke the glass shelf trying to imitate Dane Cook during charades (true story) but that’s my point. I didn’t get it on video but I will always have that memory.
Shine Bright and do what you love. Where your true passion lies is where your heart and you certainly can live without that.
